Reading this site needs no account and sets no cookie. There is no analytics script, no advertising and no tracking pixel. The servers that deliver the pages keep the ordinary request logs every web server keeps, and those are held by the hosting providers for their own operation.

Choosing a language in the header writes one cookie, NEXT_LOCALE. It holds the two-letter code of the language you chose and nothing else, it is kept for a year, and it exists so that a later visit opens in that language. Deleting it does no harm.

Signing in is optional and unlocks nothing. If you sign in — with a Google account, or with a link sent to your email — the address is stored by the authentication service the site uses, Supabase, and shown back to you in the header. It is not used to send mail and is not passed on to anyone.

Pages, images and audio are served by Vercel and Supabase, whose servers see the requests. The links under Sources lead to PubMed, doi.org, ClinicalTrials.gov and publishers’ own sites, each with its own privacy terms.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you may ask what is held about you and have it corrected or deleted.
